Fashion Week is a wonderful event in the fashion industry that offers an excellent platform to the most popular fashion designers in the world to exhibit their modern collections. This event lasts for a week and so, it is called the Fashion Week. This event is really a great opportunity not only for the designers but also for the potential buyers to purchase and try out a variety of latest collections. However, this event lets everyone to know the ins and outs of fashion industry for the specific season. Usually, Fashion Weeksorganized in the country capitals including London, New York, Milan and Paris are the most prominent ones. But fashion events happening in various parts of the world such as Porto, Sao Paulo, Berlin and Rome have also got acclamation by the people.
History:
The first Fashion Week was held in New York in the year 1943 exclusively for distracting the attention from the French fashion. Eleanor Lambert, the fashion publicist organized an event called Press Week confined to portray American designers especially for fashion Journalist. As this Press Week became successful, many fashion magazines like Vogue started to organize many events to display American innovations. While the first Fashion Week was organized in 1943, the first fashion show was organized long back in 1903. This event was organized to grab the attention of middle class females. Over time, many departmental stores organized these shows which were called as Fashion parades. These fashion parades were effectively used for promoting the stores and improving status.
Agenda:
As a matter of the fact, Fashion Week is a bi-annual event. The top designers will be displaying their winter and autumn collections between January and March whereas spring and summer costumes are displayed from September to November. The winter and summer collections are usually portrayed well in advance of these seasons in order to facilitate the retailers and buyers to make arrangements for retailing and buying the necessary items. A huge collection of costumes with modern design and styles are showcased by leading fashion designers during these weeks. Most of the collections are displayed event in magazines like Vogue.
Women’s Wear:
As already said, Fashion Week is organized twice a year and starts at New York every season followed by London, Milan and Paris. When it comes to women’s wear for autumn and winter collection, the show starts in February in New York and concludes in March in Paris. However, summer and spring season shows starts in September in New York and conclude in October in Paris.
Men’s Wear:
For men’s wear, the winter and autumn shows start in London in January and end in Paris. When it comes to summer and spring season show for men’s wears, it is organized in June.
Apart from seasonable collections, many top designers come forward to organize inter seasonal collection that occur between traditional winter/autumn and spring/summer season. There is no perfect schedule for these inter seasonal shows but they occur only after three months from the main Fashion Week Show.
